The more partners you’ve had in your past, the more miserable you’ll be with just one, because your mind becomes accustomed to variety. Each time you invest emotion and physical intimacy in a new person, you condition your psyche to seek more and more variety and novelty. You will then find it impossible to emotionally invest in intimacy with a single person. And intimacy with one person is more intense than any promiscuous lifestyle.
