EX CELL ENT ! ! !

This is an argument I have had with my mother since I was 8. Started with why the god of love would wipe out the whole of humanity but one family (Noah) or the children in Sodom & Gomorrah.

Questioning was called blasphemy. And I was like why would god make a world that could be questioned/blasphemed.

In circles we would go until I was in my 20s and she gave up. She is still a devout JW.

🙄

Never got it down as well as you have.

When I were a lad ... I was counselled by Christian "spiritual advisors" and teachers that The Illiad and The Odyssey, which I adored, were morally, philosophically, and even aesthetically inferior to the Pentateuch and New Testament.

That irreparably derailed the Christian indoctrination I was then being subjected to, and only confirmed the shabbiness and the cope I secretly deemed the entire Galilean narrative to embody.

Same! Of course the gods of the past become the demons of the present. The ancient world had already touched upon moral concepts that were drilled down and expanded to a higher degree than any “testament” could ever hope to match
